Pastor's Welcome

A Note From Our Pastor

Welcome!  We are delighted that you have chosen to visit our website. We hope that you will find it helpful as you learn more about who we are as a congregation and how you can join us in fulfilling our purpose as followers of Christ, namely to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Shortly before going to the Cross to die for our sins, Jesus prayed these words to His Father: "And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" (John 17:3). In these words, Jesus reveals that eternal life is not found in merely knowing about God - as important as that is, but rather in having a vibrant relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus, at Newberry ARP Church our focus is leading people to and nurturing them in a Gospel-faith, life-transforming relationship with the risen Christ; one that reflects the eternal blessedness and joy of the Trinity and that magnifies the Lord Jesus Christ. You can learn more about our Lord’s Day morning worship at Our Order of Worship and Our Philosophy of Worship. This article, A Matter of Faith, will introduce you to our church.

What can You expect on Sunday morning?

We seek to praise God with reverent and joyful worship. Our corporate worship is historical and participatory in nature. We worship by praising our creator God, confessing our sins before Him, affirming our faith, reading the Bible, singing hymns and psalms, hearing the proclamation of God's holy and inerrant Word, and celebrating the Sacraments. Our music is mostly traditional, accompanied by the piano or organ, with occasional use of handbells or other instruments.

There is no dress code for worship. You will find many worshippers wearing a coat and tie and others in more casual attire.

Children are members of God's covenant community and are encouraged to participate in the worship service with their parents as much as possible. As they participate on a regular basis, they will become more familiar with the service. There is a nursery for children from birth through three years old for parents who want to avail themselves of this ministry.

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday, receiving the visible Word with the preached Word. We welcome all followers of Jesus Christ who are trusting in Him alone for salvation, are baptized members of a Bible-believing congregation, are at peace with God and their neighbor, and seek His grace to live in deeper communion with Him and His people to partake of the Lord’s Supper with us.
